  1. Open your PDF

Drop the file onto this page or choose it from your device. It opens instantly in your browser.

  2. Click the text to change

Choose Edit text, then click any line. The original words are removed and replaced by an editable text box.

  3. Type and adjust

Rewrite the text, then fine-tune font, size, color or position in the side panel.

  4. Save your PDF

Click Save PDF. Your edits are written into a standard PDF that opens in any reader.

Real text editing, not just a cover-up

Many online editors only paint a white box over old text and put new text on top, which leaves the original words hidden but still inside the file. PDFHeron removes the original text from the page content whenever it can, so copy-paste and search show only your new wording.

The replacement text is real, selectable PDF text, not an image, so your document stays sharp at any zoom level and remains searchable.

Private by design

Your document is processed entirely on your own device using your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, which makes PDFHeron a safe choice for contracts, invoices and other confidential files.

Why use PDFHeron to edit PDF?

Private by design

PDFHeron processes files on your device. No uploads, no cloud copies, no one else ever sees your documents.

Real editing

Change existing text and delete content from the file itself, not just paint boxes on top of it.

Instant & offline-ready

No queues or upload waits. Big documents open in seconds, and editing keeps working without a connection.

True redaction

Redacted areas are permanently removed from saved PDFs, so hidden text can’t be copied back out.

Standard PDF output

Saved files are regular PDFs with selectable text that open in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and every other reader.

Free, or $2 once

Use every tool for free. Remove the footer forever with a one-time Pro license, with no subscription.

Edit PDF: FAQ

Can I edit the text in any PDF?

You can edit text in most PDFs that contain real text, such as documents exported from Word, Google Docs or a browser. Scanned PDFs are images of pages, so their text can’t be edited directly; you can cover it with Whiteout and add new text instead.

Will the edited text match the original font?

PDFHeron detects whether the original is a sans-serif, serif or monospaced font, along with bold and italic, and picks the closest standard PDF font in the same size and color. Most edits blend in, though highly decorative fonts can look slightly different.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use. Free saves add a small footer line to each page; a one-time $2 Pro license removes it forever.

Which languages are supported for new text?

Text you type is saved with standard PDF fonts, which cover English and other Western European languages. Characters outside that set are replaced when saving.
